DEFINITION OF MEDIA TYPES
FILTER MEDIA #1
This filter media is used to filter water and water based liquids
such as water glycol hydraulic fluids, some machine tool coolants,
cooling tower water and many aqueous fluids. It will retain a small
amount of oil from water. This micron rating is from 1 to 10 microns,
depending on the flow depth selected. It is available in flow depth
from 2 to 10 inches.
FILTER MEDIA #1A
This filter media is also used for water and water based liquids.
#1A media can be used in any application that #1 media is used plus
liquids that are made up of an oil emulsion. The major differences
between #1 and #1A media is that #1A media does not retain oil from
water, has a greater dirt holding capacity and has a higher micron
rating. The micron rating is from 30 to 50 microns, depending upon
the flow depth selected and the fluids being filtered. It is available
in flow depth of from 2 to 10 inches.
FILTER MEDIA #2
This is our most efficient media. The micron rating is from less
than 1 to 5, depending on the flow depth selected. These elements
are used when filtering light viscosity fluids. Fluids such as,
but not limited to, solvents, kerosene, gasoline, diesel fuel, transformer
oil, and light viscosity oils. Phosphate-ester fluids may also be
filtered with this media. It has excellent water removal characteristics.
It is available in flow depths of from 2 to 10 inches.
FILTER MEDIA #3
The micron rating is from 1 to 10 microns, depending on the flow
depth selected. It is our most popular element for filtering hydraulic
oil; viscosities from 100 to 500 SUS at 100 degrees F. This media
may be used in the same applications as our #2media. It has excellent
water removal characteristics. It is available in flow depths of
from 2 to 10 inches.
FILTER MEDIA #4
The micron rating is from 5 to 10 microns, depending on the flow
depth selected. Typical applications for this media would be lube
oils, such as engine crankcase oil, gear oil, machine tool cutting
oils, with temp. under 270 degrees F, and the thicker viscosity
hydraulic oils. This media can be used in the same applications
as our #2 and #3 media with exception of phosphate-ester, but will
not be as efficient, especially on the very thin fluids, because
it is not as dense and therefore will have a lower Delta-P or less
resistance to flow. This media also has excellent water removal
characteristics. It is available in flow depths of from 2 to 10
inches.
FILTER MEDIA #5
This media was designed to filter water and water based fluids such
as HWB (high water base) hydraulic fluids, and machine coolants
(water base) rinse water, cooling tower water and many other aqueous
fluid applications. This media absorbs everything. The micron rating
for this filter media is from 1 to 10 microns. This media will retain
a small amount of oil from water. It is available in flow depths
of from 2 to 5 inches.
FILTER MEDIA # 6
This media has a micron rating of from 10 to 30 microns. It has
a very low Delta-P characteristics, therefore it can be used on
highly contaminated oils. Typical applications would be gear oil,
die lube oil, and drawing compounds, as well as quench oil up to
400 degrees F. It has good water removal characteristics.
FILTER MEDIA #8
This media works well in water based fluids. Typical applications
would be certain machine tool coolant, caustic bath cleaning systems,
condensate from air compressors and numerous other special applications.
It has good oil removal characteristics. The micron rating for this
media will vary, based on the application it is used in. Generally
it would be from 5 to 50 microns.
